When configuring your domain DNS with Cloudflare, you may encounter Error 1010: Access Denied or domain verification failures.

Cause of Error 1010

This error typically occurs when:
  1. Cloudflare Proxy (Orange Cloud) is enabled: Mailofly requires direct DNS resolution for MX, TXT (DKIM/SPF), and CNAME verification. If Cloudflare’s proxy is turned on, Cloudflare returns Cloudflare proxy IPs instead of Mailofly’s mail server target, blocking verification.
  2. Cloudflare Security / WAF rules: Overly aggressive WAF rules or Bot Fight Mode may block automated verification pings.

How to Fix

1

Disable Cloudflare Proxy

In your Cloudflare dashboard, locate all DNS records created for Mailofly (DKIM, SPF, MX, and Return-Path).Ensure the Proxy status is set to DNS only (gray cloud icon), not Proxied (orange cloud icon).
2

Wait for TTL Cache Expiration

DNS propagation through Cloudflare usually takes 2 to 5 minutes once set to “DNS only”.
3

Re-verify in Mailofly

Navigate to Domains in your Mailofly dashboard and click Verify DNS Records.
