Avoid Yahoo’s Spam Folder

Yahoo Mail (including AOL and Verizon Media) operates under joint sender standards alongside Google to eliminate unauthenticated and abusive email traffic.

Key Requirements for Yahoo Mail

  • DMARC Policy: Ensure your domain has a DMARC policy in place (v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=...).
  • Enforce Low Spam Complaints: Yahoo requires senders to maintain spam complaint rates below 0.3%. Rates exceeding 0.3% will trigger temporary deferrals (421 codes) and spam folder diversion.
  • Support RFC 8058 One-Click Unsubscribe: Marketing messages must include List-Unsubscribe: <https://...> and List-Unsubscribe-Post: List-Unsubscribe=One-Click headers.
  • Keep Bounces Low: High hard bounce rates indicate poor list collection practices and will prompt Yahoo to block incoming traffic.
