Segments 🎯

Imagine you have 10,000 contacts. You don’t want to email all of them with the same thing — some are on the free plan, some are paying customers, some signed up last week. Segments let you create smart groups like:
  • “Everyone on the Pro plan”
  • “People who haven’t clicked any email in 30 days”
  • “New signups from this month”
Then when you send a campaign, you just pick the segment — and only those people get it.

Two kinds of segments

Dynamic segments are usually more useful because they stay up-to-date automatically. If someone upgrades from free to pro, they instantly appear in your “Pro users” segment without you doing anything.

Creating a segment

  1. Go to Contacts → Segments in the sidebar
  2. Click Create Segment
  3. Give it a name (like Active Pro Subscribers)
  4. Set your conditions. Example:
    • properties.plan equals pro
    • unsubscribed equals false
  5. Hit Save Segment
The count updates in real-time as contacts match (or stop matching) the rules.

Using segments in campaigns

When you create a campaign, there’s a Segment dropdown. Pick your segment, and only contacts who match it will receive the campaign — suppressed contacts and unsubscribers are automatically excluded. No manual filtering. No spreadsheet magic. Just pick and send. 🎉
