# How do Dedicated IPs work?

> When to use shared vs dedicated sending IP addresses.

Mailofly routes mail through warm, highly-monitored IP pools by default.

## Shared vs Dedicated IPs

* **Shared IPs (Default)**: Best for senders with low-to-medium volumes (\< 100k emails/month) or fluctuating schedules. Deliverability benefits from the collective good reputation of the pool.
* **Dedicated IPs**: Recommended for senders dispatching > 100,000 emails per month on a consistent daily schedule. You have 100% control over your sender score, insulated from any third-party activity.
