> How to safely ramp up sending volume on a new domain or dedicated IP address.

# Domain & IP Warm-up Guide

When sending from a newly registered domain or a fresh dedicated IP, destination mailbox providers have no historical data to evaluate whether you are a legitimate business or a spammer.

Gradually warming up your sending volume establishes a positive reputation and ensures consistent inbox placement.

## 4-Week Warm-up Schedule

If you have an audience of 50,000+ subscribers, distribute your sends over 4 weeks:

| **Week 1**  | 200–500 emails/day      | Most engaged users (opened/clicked in last 30 days) |

| **Week 4+** | 20,000+ emails/day      | Full list (excluding sunsetted contacts)            |

## Tips for a Successful Warm-up

1. **Start with High-Engagement Traffic**: Begin with transactional emails (password resets, order receipts, sign-up confirmations). These emails have the highest open rates (\~60–80%) and generate positive reputation signals.
2. **Monitor Bounce and Complaint Metrics Daily**:
   * Keep hard bounces below **2%**.
   * Keep spam complaints below **0.1%** (never exceed 0.3%).
3. **Do Not Skip Days Abruptly**: Senders that send 50,000 emails on Monday and zero for the rest of the week look suspicious to ISP spam filters. Distribute volume evenly across days.
