# Claim domain

> How to transfer or claim ownership of a domain registered by another account.

# Claim Domain Ownership

If you attempt to register a domain that was previously claimed by another Mailofly organization or former employee, you will need to verify administrative ownership before it can be added to your current workspace.

## Automated DNS Verification

To claim an existing domain:

1. Attempt to add the domain in your dashboard.
2. When prompted with the ownership challenge, copy the unique `mailofly-verification` TXT record token.
3. Add this TXT record at the apex of your domain DNS host.
4. Click **Verify Ownership**. Once our automated DNS lookup confirms the cryptographic challenge token, the domain will be released from the old account and assigned to your workspace.
