# The Friendly Paper Shredder

> Wave a gentle goodbye and safely recycle a contact's card from your filing cabinet.

# The Friendly Paper Shredder (Delete Contact)

Sometimes friends move away or close their accounts, and it's time to say a polite goodbye.

If a user closes their profile, deletes their account in your app, or sends a friendly note saying *"Please erase my information"*, you want to grant their wish cleanly and respectfully.

**The Friendly Paper Shredder (Delete Contact)** is your automation's recycling bin. When a contact reaches this stop, Mailofly permanently and safely erases their record from your audience.

## What Happens Inside the Shredder?

When someone travels into this card:

* Their contact card is permanently shredded from your **Audience**.
* They are removed from every club badge and **Segment** list.
* Any future scheduled newsletters or automation emails are cancelled for them.
* Their current automation coaster ride comes to an immediate, safe stop.

## The Polite Goodbye Recipe

Here is how you can set up a respectful goodbye sequence:

```
[ Signal: user.account_closed ]
                │
                ▼
[ 💌 Send Email: "Your account is officially closed" ]
                │
                ▼
      [ ⏰ Wait 10 Minutes ]
                │
                ▼
[ 🗑️ The Friendly Paper Shredder ]
```

Notice how we let The Digital Mailman deliver the farewell confirmation letter *first*, wait 10 minutes to be sure it arrived safely, and *then* run the paper shredder!

## 🛑 Keep in Mind: No Gluing It Back Together

* **It's Gone for Good**: Once shredded, you cannot hit "undo".
* **New Visits Are Always Welcome**: If that person changes their mind in the future and signs up again next year, Mailofly will happily welcome them as a brand-new friend!
